MEDIA & PR COMMUNICATIONS OVERSEAS
Having just returned from a business trip throughout Europe, it dawned on me how dependent we in the U.S. are upon blackberries and email as primary communications tools. From my very unscientific observation, while these tools are used overseas a ton as well, they are often used more for personal use than for business.
My promise to myself having returned is to pick up the phone much more, and see many more people face to face. Random ravings from a PR agency owner.

In Europe people are more depended to a personal communication. Because the personal communication make the people more reliable of the source, PR manager, that is placing the information, or lobbying for a certain thing that is connected with the clients. It is same as building friendship, and you can not have true friendship without personal communication. Sending e-mail and text messages are part of the story of the friendship, but that is not enough. We are spending time more and more with the journalist, and editors, so they can feel the importance that they have in our communication, and they appreciate that. This kind of contacts almost always has positive results for all the clients that we have. Is the same with the clients. Better to set down and talk it over, than to discuss some topic via email.
