TWITTER, SOCIAL MEDIA & PUBLIC RELATIONS

Anyone who’s spent more than 30 seconds next to me knows of my intense blackberry addiction; I have slept with my blackberry next to my bed for years.  If that need for instant communications wasn’t enough, I recently joined Twitter (pre CNN, Oprah and Ashton’s high-profile media).

As 5WPR matures along with the industry, we have expanded our leadership and focus in emerging and social media campaigns for our clients.

This continues to be an important space for PR and communications.  As the Public Relations industry evolves and our firm continues to grow, I invite you to follow me on Twitter to engage in a greater conversation about public relations.  And while you are at it, friend me on Facebook.

Great to see you’re on twitter now. I was casually doing a twitter search for my name to see who mentioned me without the @ symbol and found you linking the interview with did together.

As of this writing I have 2,812 followers, but more importantly I’m following 2,439 people. Whenever something big is going on, anywhere in the world, my followers let me know about it. Faster than any news medium could ever be.

I also like to peak on twitter trends every now and then on the twitter homepage. It’s a peak of the overall consciousness of the world. What are people REALLY talking about, right now.

Anyway, just followed you and looking forward to your tweets.

A few months, I thought that Facebook and its status updates would be the be-all, end-all way of instantly gratifying one’s need to know everything about his or her “friends.” But then, Twitter came into the headlines. Ashton vs. CNN, Oprah Tweeting to her Fans and before I knew it, everyone had to have a Twitter account as fast as the iPhone sold out when it first arrived.

Twitter has become the very thing some people cannot stand: an over saturated source of information, albeit not necessarily newsworthy, but available to everyone who “follows” someone else. This will change the way people communicate with one another and also how they will have to decipher whether the information given to them is valid or not.

Anyways, thanks for blogging and I hope to follow them and your tweets as well!
