Started today with an awesome run in Central Park– and running is always something which (once finished) allows me so much clarity and to feel good. Am convinced that 5WPR runs better when I actually am running. As a big fan of quotes wanted to share some great quotes on running:

  • “Every day is a good day when you run.” Kevin Nelson
  • “We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves…The more restricted our society and work become, the more necessary it will be to find some outlet for this craving for freedom. No one can say, ‘You must not run faster than this, or jump higher than that.’ The human spirit is indomitable.” Sir Roger Bannister
  • “Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day. It asks you, ‘Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?’” Peter Maher
“Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts.” Steve Prefontaine
  • “Mental will is a muscle that needs exercise, just like the muscles of the body.” Lynn Jennings
  • “Running makes all parts of life better – except in the midst of the run.” Elie Hirschfeld (A marathon and triathalon regular, who is also a real estate mogul)
  • “Human beings are made up of flesh and blood, and a miracle fiber called courage.” George Patton
  • “No one ever drowned in sweat.” Author Unknown
  • “When it’s pouring rain and you’re bowling along through the wet, there’s satisfaction in knowing you’re out there and the others aren’t.” Peter Snell
  • “Running should be a lifelong activity. Approach it patiently and intelligently, and it will reward you for a long, long time.” Michael Sargent
  • “It’s very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.” George Sheehan
  • “You only ever grow as a human being if you’re outside your comfort zone.” Percy Cerutty
