Fascinating case unfolding in Sydney, Australia surrounding a journalist who collaborated with others to expose allegations of sexual harassment against the Speaker- and that the media advisor “used the processes of the court as an instrument in a calculated and orchestrated political and public relations campaign”. There are often two courts involved when it comes to crisis PR: the court of law and the court of public opinion – and in Australia its playing out in a major way all over the media.  Fascinating to read about it:

If all business is local, its even more so in Washington, DC – and even more so for Public Relations Agencies.  As Politico says, “For years, international public relations and advertising firms have bought up Washington lobby shops looking to pad their bottom line. And many lobbyists were happy to take the big bucks. A string of major defections from big-name firms has some rethinking the system, as top lobbyists rebel against the corporate mold and salary caps hamstring firms from attracting or keeping talent.”

Independent PR Agencies all over continue to see strong growth – and I am sure that trend will continue.  Large holding companies work for the profits and best interests of large holding companies – and not for the clients.  Firms like 5WPR will continue to grow worldwide – and its good to see Politico and other media outlets recognize it.

As Q2 is about to come to an end, we are up 20% over last year, and projecting 2012 to be the 1st $15 Million (which would move us from the 24th largest PR Firm to the 18th largest).
