Running a PR firm in the heart of New York City can have its challenges – and day after day it is always something different.

Here’s today February 11, 2013:

My day started at 5am. I like the idea of getting up early and being on top of things – I read The NY Post and NY Times on a bike, and then run.  After the morning workout, its breakfast at home, and make my way to the office by 8am (luckily, home and work are walking distance).

Started the day at a Mobile Tech Symposium being hosted by a client at City University of New York.  The roundtable discussion featured speakers on the effects of cell phone radiation on the human body. There are more than seven billion cell phones in use around the world today, EZ Technologies, makers of the Bodywell Chip released researched on how to help reduce radiation from mobile devices.  (1st story just out at: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/02/11/do-need-protection-from-cellphones/#ixzz2KcYxSqU1).

After the symposium quick meeting with a hedge fund client who needed to discuss an issue face-to-face.  Then back to the office for a lunch with a senior employee, followed by a meet and greet with the new group of 5W Public Relations spring interns.

Had to return two reporter phone calls in the afternoon – and then an internal brainstorm for a client. Usually there’s about three or four of us involved, myself, the practice head, the account lead and other team members. We always have a number of heads trying to put ideas together. Have a quick client meeting here at 5WPR.

Then have a non-profit board meeting. It’s an update meeting, so we’re discussing some initiatives.  The day is not ending there. I will go home and over dinner review messages – and catch up on missed work, as I mentally prepare for the day to come.

PR is not a 9 to 5 job. You have to love what you do to be successful in this business and I certainly do.
