Editorial Policy
Last updated: May 2026
ronntorossian.com (the "Site") publishes commentary, analysis, and reporting on public relations, crisis communications, marketing, branding, media, business strategy, and current affairs. Our editorial mission is to deliver accurate, timely, and useful perspectives drawn from decades of operating experience in the communications industry. This Editorial Policy describes the standards and practices that guide what we publish.
1. Editorial Mission
The Site exists to inform, challenge, and equip communicators, executives, founders, and the public with sharp, candid analysis of how narratives are built, shaped, and contested. We prioritize substance over volume and clarity over jargon. We aim to publish material that is worth a reader's time and that holds up to scrutiny after the news cycle has moved on.
2. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of any client, advertiser, partner, or other commercial relationship. No outside party has the right to approve, alter, or veto editorial content before publication. Where an author has a personal or professional connection to a subject that a reasonable reader would want to know about, that connection is disclosed within the article.
3. Accuracy and Sourcing
We are committed to factual accuracy. Reporters and contributors are expected to:
- Verify facts through primary sources whenever practical, including official statements, court records, regulatory filings, and direct interviews.
- Attribute information clearly, identifying sources by name where possible and explaining the basis for any anonymous attribution.
- Quote sources accurately and in context, without distortion through selective editing.
- Cross-check claims with at least one independent source before publishing material that could damage reputations.
- Distinguish clearly between reporting, analysis, and opinion.
4. Use of Anonymous Sources
We prefer on-the-record sourcing. We will grant anonymity only when the information is of substantial public interest, cannot be obtained through on-the-record sources, and the source faces a credible risk of retaliation or harm. When anonymity is granted, we describe the source as specifically as possible without revealing identity and we explain why the source is being protected.
5. Opinion, Analysis, and Commentary
A significant share of the Site's content is opinion and analysis. These pieces represent the views of the author at the time of publication and are clearly distinguishable from straight reporting. Opinion pieces are still held to the Site's accuracy standards: underlying factual claims must be true and supported.
6. Sponsored and Branded Content
From time to time, the Site may publish sponsored content, paid partnerships, or other commercial material. Such content is clearly and prominently labeled as "Sponsored," "Paid Partnership," or with a similarly unambiguous designation. Sponsored content does not influence editorial coverage, and editorial coverage is not offered, withheld, or shaped in exchange for advertising or sponsorship.
7. Use of Artificial Intelligence
Generative AI tools may be used to assist with research, transcription, formatting, copy editing, or producing visual elements. AI is not used as a substitute for human reporting, judgment, or fact-checking. A human editor reviews and is accountable for every published piece. When an article materially relies on AI-generated content, that reliance is disclosed.
8. Corrections and Updates
When we publish an error of fact, we correct it promptly. The corrected article carries a clear note describing what was changed and when. We do not silently alter substantive content after publication. Minor, non-substantive edits (such as fixing a typo or broken link) may be made without a published note.
To request a correction, email ronn@5wpr.com with the article URL, the specific passage at issue, and any supporting documentation. We respond to credible correction requests as quickly as possible.
9. Right of Reply
Individuals and organizations who are the subject of critical coverage are given a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication whenever practical. If a substantive response is received after publication, we will consider updating the article or publishing a follow-up.
10. Plagiarism and Attribution
Plagiarism is incompatible with our editorial standards. Material drawn from other publications, reports, or interviews is clearly attributed and, where appropriate, linked to the original source. Quotations are reproduced faithfully.
11. Conflicts of Interest
Authors are expected to avoid covering subjects in which they have a financial interest or close personal relationship. Where avoidance is not possible and the public-interest value of the coverage warrants publication, the relevant interest is disclosed prominently within the article.
12. Privacy, Dignity, and Sensitive Subjects
We weigh the public interest in publication against the potential for harm. We take particular care with stories involving minors, victims of crime, medical conditions, mental health, sexual matters, and grief. We do not publish information about private individuals that has no legitimate public-interest justification.
13. Removal and Unpublishing Requests
Published articles are part of the public record. We generally do not unpublish accurate, lawful reporting. In limited circumstances — such as a serious threat to personal safety, a successful legal challenge, or factual errors so significant that correction is inadequate — we may unpublish or substantially revise an article. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
14. Reader Comments and Submissions
Where reader interaction is enabled, we expect civil and substantive discussion. We may remove comments or submissions that are unlawful, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, off-topic, or otherwise contrary to the spirit of constructive debate.
15. Contact
