5W is expanding fast in Florida because the business is there. More than 74 companies relocated their headquarters to Florida between 2020 and 2025, according to a JLL report cited by Bisnow, and 5W now serves many Florida clients from a Brickell office in Miami and a second team in Tampa. We are hiring, and I want to hear from people who want to build their careers in Florida.

Why did 5W build in Florida?

I started 5W in New York in 2003, and for most of our history the story was a New York story. Florida changed that. Companies, funds and founders moved south, and they brought the same need they had in New York: a way to be understood by the people who write about them.

The move is concentrated and visible. CBRE's 2026 headquarters relocation report counted 15 financial services headquarters relocation announcements in 2025, part of a wider wave that included business services, technology and real estate. Brickell, the Miami financial district that Bisnow and CBRE now call Wall Street South, sits at the center of it. A firm that relocates still has to build a reputation in its new market, because a new address does not bring the relationships that go with it.

What does a Florida team change for clients?

A Florida team changes speed and access. A team in Brickell can sit in a client's conference room the same afternoon, meet South Florida business reporters in person and handle a breaking story in the market where it is happening. A New York team working Florida by phone cannot do that as well. That is why our Florida client base keeps growing, and why we keep adding people to serve it.

Which Florida industries does 5W serve?

5W's Miami and Tampa teams work across the industries driving the relocation wave. They include consumer products, financial services and fintech, real estate, crisis communications, entertainment and lifestyle, and software. Each sector has its own audiences and rules, and the same team that handles a relocating bank also handles a consumer brand entering the state. The Miami PR agency page lists the practices and the local work.

How is Florida PR different from market to market?

Florida is not one media market. Miami and South Florida, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and the Gulf Coast each have their own outlets, audiences and news cycles, so a plan that works in one can fail in another. 5W's guide to Florida PR by city covers how the markets differ and which to start in first. My own advice is to pick one market, win it, and then expand, instead of trying to cover the whole state on day one.

Who do we want to hear from?

We want to hear from people who want to be in Florida. That includes people who already live there, people planning a move south and people in New York or elsewhere who want a Florida base. 5W hires in Florida for PR, digital and account management roles, from entry level through senior leadership, and the agency runs a hybrid model with more than 250 professionals overall.

  • Public relations: consumer, corporate, technology, health, beauty, travel and crisis work.
  • Digital and social: strategists, paid media, content and creative.
  • AI and GEO: people who work on how brands appear in ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI search.
  • Account management: people who run client relationships and grow accounts.

The people we look for are sharp writers who can turn a brief into a headline, strategists who find the angle competitors missed, digital operators who treat AI tools as channels, and people who own outcomes instead of hours. Account leads here run their own books, and the work comes with direct access to senior leaders.

If that sounds like you, see the open roles on 5W's PR jobs and careers page or send a resume to careers@5wpr.com. We hire for curiosity and capability as much as open requisitions, so write to us even if you do not see your exact role. You can also read more about PR job titles and career levels to see where a Florida role would fit.

I do not think of Florida as a satellite of New York. It is a market with its own press, its own clients and its own pace, and the way to win in it is to be in it.
